Yes, we're alive and well!! :)
I know, I've already received the phone calls asking if everything is okay (and I know they're calling because I haven't blogged in a month!!) Who needs visiting teachers when you have people who read your blog? :) Thanks amigas!
So we are finally back from a wonderful trip to Arizona! We had a blast with all of Paco's family crammed into one big house. Sammy was in cousin-heaven with all of his brand new friends, and Paco and I really enjoyed visiting with his siblings and mother. Jacob did pretty well on the trip except for not sleeping well at night (but sleeping all day long) and by the end of the trip he had a horrible cough that scared me enough to take him to the doctor--turns out it was viral and they said it would go away in a few days (10 days later and it's finally gone).
Paco is home on personal leave for a little while longer while we renew his permanent resident card, which gives me the opportunity to go back to work for a little while. So if any of you know of any jobs for the next 2 months...you know how to reach me! :)
Because of our new work situation, I'm going to have to give up my YMCA membership for a few months. You have no idea how sad that is to me :( However, we all are going to have to sacrifice for a few months...and I might as well join in the fun! :) In exchange for my YMCA membership, we have taken up rollerblading again, chasing Sammy on his new scooter, jogging around the school in front of us, and going on strolls with Jacob. My family is preparing for a "Push-up" contest at our family reunion in June...so I'm going to start preparing for that um....tomorrow? (i've been saying that for over a week now). The bright side is according to the scale I only weigh 5 more pounds than my pre-pregnancy weight. Go figure. That's what happens when your muscle turns to fat I guess! Haha
Good news!! Jacob is sleeping through the night now. We did the old fashioned, let him cry through it, and it worked magically in three nights. Don't get too excited, we didn't let him scream his head off for 20 minutes...actually it was pretty tranquilo. He kept waking up in the middle of the night, nursing for 2 minutes and falling back asleep...so I decided enough was enough. (or did Paco decide?? not sure. we both were ready!) So we put Sammy on our bedroom floor and put Jacob in Sammy's room in the bassinett. We only heard him wake up twice, and it was less than 5 minutes of whining (not wailing) and he was back asleep. Now, four days later, he's sleeping all night. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!! :)
YEAH for sleeping through the night! I'm glad to hear you didn't let him "wail" for 20+ minutes, that I would of have to comment on. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have to say I did miss all your updates. Glad you had a good holiday. Wish you the best of luck finding a job.
