Apparently it's been too long since I've posted. Even the people who used to call me to find out why I hadn't blogged in a while--haven't called. They've given up! haha
Well don't lose hope. I'm not done yet! :)
What's happening in the Velasco home:
Jacob can now say Mama, Papa, Mas (more), Agua (water), Book, Ball, and he points to his mouth when he's hungry while saying "Mas!". He's still just a bundle of fun and mimmicks Sammy's every move.
Sammy has mastered riding his bike with no training wheels. I say mastered, because he can now ride it and put his feet up by the handle bar and glide while he does it. Now that's impressive (and a little scary). He has 5 articles of faith memorized, and last week memorized John 3:16 because his primary president challenged them to memorize it. He's my little buddy now that he can talk so much.
***SPECIAL NOTE*** To those of you struggling with 1 1/2 - 3 year olds whose vocabulary isn't up to par yet...know that it does get better as they get older! Maren Lopez (a friend of mine here in San Jose) once said to me (i paraphrase) 'there comes a point when they get old enough that you can talk and reason with them' and that's all i needed to hear--it seemed like a ray of hope I needed that day. And...now, about a year later, it's come true. (Thanks Maren!)
Paco is working on his third test for the CPA. The next one is scheduled for next Friday, so he's up all morning studying--even before the sun comes up--even before I leave to go to seminary. He's an early bird.
I recently got called as the primary chorister which has added a whole new dimension to my life. I admit, my heart is still in YW (I still work with the YW), and I wasn't sure there was room in my heart (or in my schedule) for both callings, but it has been awesome. I enjoy singing the song all week long to try and memorize it, and then notice a few days later to see that Sammy has memorized it as well. Primary is a lot of work, but it's fun and like I heard once "it's the only place in the church where the kids will grow up and remember WORD FOR WORD the things that you taught them." Love it! Besides that, I'm trying to exercise more and eat better. I'm in a competition with my sister based on those two things. WHEN she loses--she has to fly to CA to come visit me :) yes!!!!!!!!
So that's life in CA so far :)
Wow, I'm glad my words of wisdom ;-P were helpful to you. (I don't even remember saying them!)
ReplyDeleteI totally covet your new calling! Every ward I've been in I've asked for that calling and never gotten it. Someday it will be my turn!
Good luck to Paco in his test and you in your friendly competition!
WHEN? phblaaaat!!!! (My sticking my tongue out at you!)
