2 1/2 weeks left

It's hard to believe I only have 2 1/2 weeks left, but it's true. (well--at least that's what the calendar says anyway). Who knows when this little guy will really come! :)
At my last doctors appointment (friday) there were ZERO signs of early labor, so I'm not getting my hopes up at all! Although let's be honest--anyone who is in their last few weeks gets excited over a little pain in the stomach thinking and wondering... but yeah, mine never last long enough to get my hopes up...yet :)

People keep asking me if we're ready...and I'm not really sure how to respond. Emotionally? yes, we're way excited. Financially? well is anyone ever financially ready? haha But I think they're usually referring to--do you have everything for the baby you need. So I usually tell them yes, everything but a place for him to sleep and a double stroller! haha Sleeping...small detail. I really need to make up my mind..and fast.

Any suggestions? Should I borrow a bassinet? Buy a pack n play with a bassinet attached? Kick Sammy out of his crib (yeah right) Put him in a laundry basket with blankets inside? haha (sadie--may we never forget Rancho!) haha

  1. I say borrow a bassinet for now. Then get a pack 'n' play. We use ours all the time. Whenever we go anywhere we take it with us. Plus, its nice to have a "play pen" to put the baby in at times becuase he is protected from the big brother who loves to hug a little too hard.

If you can't find a bassinet, just go for the laundry basket. It'll work just fine. :)

  2. So are you saying that a bassinet is better than the pack n play bassinet? Either way we need to buy the pack n play--so that's why i'm thinking just get it now...but not sure how comfy it is for babies.

  3. The real bassinet is better for when they are little becuase it is more comfy and snug. Nate only fit it his for about a month, so I wouldn't pay the $75 it costs to buy one. See if anyone has one you can use for a month or so.

Also, I tagged you on my blog. Check out "Quirky" for an explanation.

  4. I'm not a mom yet so don't feel obligated to listen to me, but I have heard that pack n plays are fine (as in comfortable enough) for little babies because they don't care yet, but once they get to be a few months old they don't like them very much. I guess they are too hard...or too soft, I'm not really sure which. Like I said, you don't have to listen to me... :) I'll come back when I have kids of my own.

  5. If you're planning on getting a pack n play I'd just go with that. Unless you hit a yard sale and get a good bassinet for like $10 or borrow one. You might be better off financially buying the pack n play before baby's born. The GREAT thing about the pack n play is if you go anywhere you can take it with you for a little stability for baby.

Comfort wise...I think the pack n play would be just fine.

If you weren't going to get a pack n play then I'd say go for a bassinet or laundry basket for the first month or two and work on transitioning Sammy into a bed and out of the crib.

    Hope all goes well!
