Back in the game
I finally got my first post-baby race in, and it was AWESOME. Granted, half of that was because i ran with an awesome team, but the other half was that incredible feeling of running a race and not dying. haha This was a trail run, which I've never done before, and it was absolutely beautiful. I was a little scared that a mountain lion or snake or tick would jump out and attack me, but it was still fun. (check out facebook for pics)
I've only ran 3.1 miles twice so far (post-Sariah). I've been only doing 1-2 miles at the gym--seems like I either get tired or something starts hurting or cramping, so I stop or slow down to a walk. But the two times I ran them on the treadmill at the YMCA they were a TOTAL victory for me. I worked hard, ran fast (I'm running at about 6.5 mph) and feel awesome when I'm done.
Funny story though... so post baby is a fun time because our body naturally begins shedding the weight (well, at least the first 20 pounds or so). Then the next 10-15 you actually have to work a little bit for. Well, I'm now down like 35-40 pounds and I'm back into my pre-prego clothes, but I've still got about 10 pounds to go and it's not shedding off like I'd hoped. SO i went to the trainer at the YMCA and began talking about it. Long story short--in my brain I had been doing easily 35 minutes of cardio each session...when we checked my stats it was barely an average of 20 minutes. She looked at me seriously and said "in order to get that last 10 pounds off, you're going to have to AT LEAST double that time" LOL I was like..oooh right. lol embarrassing.
I've gained a new perspective on TRACKING. Tracking our money helps us make a good budget. Tracking our workouts helps us make a better workout plan. Now I will be making specific goals based on what i want the outcome to be. This should (cross fingers) help me get the last 10 pounds off. And of course--the weight loss competition with my sister Brenda is always a motivation. First one to lose 10 wins an ice cream sundae. LOL Thanks sis! ;)
